Your Security
At Covero, we take your safety and privacy very seriously. This page is designed to warn our customers about potential fraud and provide guidance for those who may have been targeted by scammers.
Top Tips
- Never pay in advance for loan promises.
- Never share personal information without verifying the contact's identity.
- Never send money to unfamiliar parties regarding loans you didn't request.
Fraudsters often impersonate legitimate companies through letters and phone calls, promising nonexistent loans in exchange for upfront payment. Be vigilant and always verify before sharing any personal or financial information.
Advanced Fee Loan Scam
Scammers demand upfront "fees" via money transfers, wire transfers, or prepaid debit cards before releasing supposed loan funds.
Covero does not require upfront payment on any of its loans and does not charge request fees.
Warning Signs
- Request for advance payment before receiving loan funds
- Requests for prepaid debit cards (such as Green Dot cards)
- Wire transfer demands to unfamiliar recipients
Debt Collection Scam
Fraudulent callers may impersonate debt collectors, attempting to collect legitimate, phantom, previously-paid, or misattributed debts.
Warning Signs
- Threats involving violence, arrest, or wage garnishment
- Refusal to provide loan agreements or payment history
- Demand for amounts differing from actual debt owed
